All About Us
Habakkuk Harriers formed at Downs Baptist Church, Woodingdean, Sussex, UK in 2007. We are a Christian charity and an ARC affiliated running club. Our aspiration is to establish the Glory Run. Our intention is to encourage and support other churches to start teams, both nationally and internationally. We are keen to use our running as an outreach ministry. Is it easier to turn Christians into runners or lead runners to Christ? Our running vest is of distinctive colours with the Habakkuk Harriers logo on the back. We enter organised runs, both in the UK and internationally. We have teams entering the Brighton 10k and the Paris Marathon. One of our club members has run the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon in Cape Town.

We have a C25K (Couch to 5k) programme for people who have not run before. Their ages range between 8 and 67. We have been inspired by the progress these runners have made. Many of them will be doing their first 10k within 6 months. Personal bests all round. In the near future we intend to organise our own event, the Habakkuk Half Marathon and 5k which will be held annually.

There are parallels between living a Christian lifestyle and long distance running; we cross the start line at our own time, we all run the same course, we have our own personal struggles, we find encouragement and support along the way whether we finish first or last, we receive the same prize - a medal for the runner, Eternal Life for the Christian. We are not reserving our worship for when we are in church or Christian company. We are taking it to the streets, the trails and the hill tops. The Sovereign Lord is our strength and in that strength we will worship Him.
